Politics may be Ilhan Omar’s domain, but her daughter Ilwad has also shared a few moments in the spotlight. She grew up witnessing her mother break barriers as the first Somali-American and one of the first Muslim women elected to Congress in 2019. She has joined her mother at multiple events, including town halls and press conferences, giving the public a rare look into their lives outside of Washington.
Aside from their expressive eyes, the mother-daughter duo also share a deep interest in activism and social justice, values that have been central to their family. Her sister, Isra, also made waves as a climate activist.
